Autumn and Spring are the best times of year to sow new grass seed and create a refreshed or brand new, lush looking lawn.
After a long hot summer with little rain, there may be bare patches of grass that just won’t come back, but this can be easily fixed.
There are several steps that I can take to give you the best chance of a lush new lawn, although I might not need to do them all every time –
- Scarifying – removing moss and thatch that prevents water and nutrients getting to the roots
- Aerating – useful if the soil underneath is compacted
- Starter fertilising – helps by adding phosphorous which is key for root development
- Lawn dressing – prevents seeds being eaten by birds
- And of course, adding the grass seed itself. I’m happy for you to buy the seed if you know what you like, otherwise I can buy it on your behalf.
Cost: The labour is the same at £20 per hour, and on top of this is the grass seed and any dressing, top soil or fertiliser that I buy.
